Eastern Rice Dumpling is a heritage brand that has been making traditional Chinese rice dumplings since 1985, with an outlet at Bedok Mall along New Upper Changi Road. The shop specialises in handmade bak zhang, the classic Hokkien rice dumpling wrapped in bamboo leaves and filled with ingredients such as marinated pork, mushroom, chestnut, and salted egg yolk, all encased in glutinous rice seasoned with a five-spice soya sauce recipe. The brand also offers other traditional kueh and dumplings, including soon kueh and kee chang, catering to customers looking for these heritage items beyond the Dragon Boat Festival season. The Bedok Mall location at basement level B2-K10 brings Eastern Rice Dumpling into a modern shopping setting, making it convenient for residents of the Bedok area to pick up traditional dumplings alongside their daily shopping. The brand is known for its commitment to handmade production, with each dumpling wrapped by hand rather than machine, preserving the texture and quality that loyal customers have come to expect. Prices are moderate, reflecting the quality of ingredients and the labour-intensive process. If you are craving a proper bak zhang in the east, Eastern Rice Dumpling at Bedok Mall is a convenient and reliable stop. It is heritage you can taste.Operating Hours

Tried the mini nyonya dumplings. The aunty didn’t speak much English, but she was nice and showed me the fillings for her tutu kueh. The dumpling didn’t have much in terms of filling, but I liked the flavour, and I feel it’s good value since it was just over 2 dollars. Nice snack stall!
